AAFC Approves Planning for Canadian Ornamental Horticulture Science Cluster

On November 3, 2009, Canadian Ornamental Horticulture Alliance (COHA) and Vineland Research and Innovation Centre received good news from the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Gerry Ritz on planning for the Canadian Ornamental Horticulture Research and Innovation Cluster.

COHA is the national voice for the ornamental horticulture sector in Canada and also a leading stakeholder of the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. The organization represents the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, the Federation Interdisciplinaire de l'Horticulture Ornementale du Quebec and Flowers Canada Growers.

COHA and Vineland Research and Innovation Centre researchers met in Montreal recently to refine research priorities, select Principal Investigators and confirm project teams.

The contribution from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will fund planning to develop a comprehensive national research and innovation cluster proposal for the sector. This proposal will be submitted by COHA and Vineland Research and Innovation Centre by the end of November.
