Vineland Research and Innovation Centre’s (Vineland) vision is clear: to support vibrant, prosperous and sustainable research and innovation in the broad and diverse fields of agriculture and food products. Since its start-up in 2007, Vineland has become the leading centre for horticulture innovation in Canada. Today, Vineland is an industry-driven, independent, non-profit organization with a skilled team of leaders who focus on scientific rigour and operational excellence. Vineland's research strategy is to develop projects that have the greatest potential for impact in horticulture and agricultural. Research success is achieved through extensive stakeholder engagement, establishing clear research priorities and ensuring focussed project management. As Vineland looks to the future, it seeks to leverage its research and discovery success to build new partnerships, diversify its funding sources, create commercialization/revenue sources and structures, and expand its capabilities across a number of industry clusters primarily in horticulture and agricultural sectors. Vineland’s Board of Directors is seeking an exceptional individual who will build on past successes and help to define the next stage of Vineland’s evolution.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

As the new Chief Executive Officer, you will leverage the brand of Vineland as a recognized leader in horticulture, agriculture, and food-related innovation, enhancing and developing new and existing partnerships. With a compelling vision and passionate commitment to turn innovation into practical, cost-effective solutions to real world problems, you will work with the Board to shape and advance the strategy. You will draw on the expertise of a team of operations and research directors to assess needs and identify priorities; serving as a strong advocate and ambassador for the Vineland research and innovation platform.

Qualifications: 

As Vineland’s CEO, you should have experience supporting innovation and achieving impact through public and private sector partnerships. Your credentials include senior leadership experience in agriculture, food and/or commercialization and development. With excellent political acuity and interpersonal skills, you have a large network of relationships to leverage and build new partnerships, diversify funding sources, create commercialization/revenue sources and structures and expand Vineland’s capabilities across a number of industry clusters, primarily in the horticulture and agriculture sectors. An in-depth appreciation of governance will ensure a trusting and meaningful relationship with the Board of Directors. Vineland’s research facilities are situated on more than 200 acres in the Niagara Peninsula.
