Platform Genetics Inc. (PGI) is recruiting for a Business Development Advisor to work in a dynamic, client-focused genomics services company.  PGI is a for-profit company, wholly owned by Vineland Research and Innovation Centre (Vineland). Vineland is a world-class research centre dedicated to horticultural science and innovation. Located in Canada’s Niagara Region, on the traditional territory of Anishinaabeg, Ojibway/Chippewa and Haudenosaunee peoples, this territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Business Development Advisor, you will work closely with PGI’s Head of Genomics to support the development and management of new and existing North American and international clients. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will have a client-focused approach and an entrepreneurial mindset with previous experience in key accounts management and an unwavering dedication to client satisfaction.

Driving top-line revenue generation, you will maintain an intimate knowledge and understanding of PGI’s technologies and value proposition while actively participating in regular pipeline reviews.

Qualifications

  • BSc in genomics/biology/plant agriculture/business and three-plus years in a business development role in agriculture/genomics/biotech/pharma
  • MSc or PhD in a genomics-related field is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more areas of genomics, genetics, molecular biology, plant biology, plant breeding and agriculture is desired
  • B2B sales, business development and key accounts management experience
  • Existing networks in the seed industry highly desired. Networks and experience operating in Europe are a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Good understanding of business and government budget and procurement processes
