The rise of a new sweet potato variety and slip production in Ontario

Sweet potato consumption in Canada has doubled over the past 10 years, presenting a remarkable growth opportunity for Canadian horticulture. So far, growth in production has been limited by the lack of adapted varieties to our short growing season and limited access to propagative material. To address this opportunity, Vineland collaborated with Louisiana State University to develop a new earlier maturing, high-yielding, Canadian adapted variety with desirable consumer characteristics called Radiance.
